ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Kingston, Jamaica) - COMET II


Description:
Terms of Reference

The Community Empowerment and Transformation II Project (COMET II), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Tetra Tech DPK (Tt DPK), is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Administrative Assistant to undertake work in Kingston, Jamaica.

COMET II Description:  COMET II is a five-year USAID-funded project, as a follow-on to COMET (2006-2012). COMET II will strengthen community and civil society organizations, increase citizen cooperation and accountability, strengthen juvenile justice and youth at-risk programs, and further support community-based policing practices. The project also supports improvements in the adaptive capacity of communities to prepare for the impacts of extreme weather events and to address global climate change adaptation issues. It also advances other cross-cutting development themes including gender equity, disability rights, and responsiveness to the needs of vulnerable populations, by integrating specific targeted interventions across the wider suite of programmatic activities.

COMET II will implement its activities in 25 Community Renewal Program (CRP) communities which fall within five selected parishes of Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, and St. James.


Responsibilities:  
The Administrative Assistant will provide support to members of the management team in executing their tasks. In this regard, he/she shall assume the following tasks:

• Assist with the process for finalizing monthly and quarterly reports submitted to USAID, ensuring appropriate inputs from local staff and/or local and international consultants. 
• Assist with drafting and refining communication tools in accordance with industry practice. 
• Assist with collection, preparation and editing of materials and information on the project activities and achieved outcomes. 
• Contribute to program success stories and provide input for success stories to COP, including photographs when possible. 
• Support program monitoring, data gathering, compiling, and filing systems. 
• Support development and delivery of training for potential grant applicants that may become eligible partners in the implementation of the COMET II project. 
• Support project equipment inventory processes. 
• Support procurement processes as requested by the Finance and Admin Department. 
• Fulfill any other duties as assigned by FAM or the COP 

Qualifications:
• University Degree in Administration, Communications or a related field 
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar staff position. 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications. 
• Knowledge of or prior experience working on international donor-funded project is a plus.

The salary range for this position is JMD 1,286,874 - JMD 2,446,231 annually, plus benefits.
